The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State has reaffirmed its total loyalty to the party and declared its readiness to win all elective positions in the 2027 general elections, despite recent political tensions and challenges facing opposition parties nationwide.
The party made this known on Monday following its Expanded Caucus Meeting held in Kaduna. Speaking during a briefing for journalists on the outcome of the meeting, the State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mrs Maria Dogo, said party leaders and members were united and more determined than ever to reclaim political power.
According to Dogo, the meeting attracted a large turnout of party leaders, stakeholders, serving and former elected officeholders, as well as party members from all parts of the state. She said the gathering was convened to review the party’s current state and to brief members on ongoing national-level efforts to reposition and strengthen the PDP.
Dogo explained that the caucus meeting also created a platform for party members to openly express their concerns, expectations, and suggestions ahead of future political engagements, particularly the 2027 general elections.
She noted that the party leaders present at the meeting provided detailed briefings on concrete steps the national leadership is taking to resolve internal challenges and restore confidence within the party.
“The caucus noted with satisfaction that the engagements helped to allay fears, restore confidence, and reinforce belief in the future of the PDP,” Dogo said.
She added that members unanimously resolved to remain united, steadfast, and committed to building a stronger, more cohesive PDP in Kaduna State and across Nigeria. According to her, the meeting ended with a renewed sense of purpose and optimism about the party’s prospects.
The caucus also reiterated that the PDP, as Nigeria’s leading opposition party with deep-rooted grassroots structures, is fully prepared to mobilise its members and supporters to emerge victorious in all elective contests in the 2027 general elections.
Beyond internal consolidation, Dogo revealed that the party resolved to remain open to strategic collaboration with other like-minded political parties and stakeholders. She said such alliances would be aimed at ending APC-led governance beyond 2027 and offering Nigerians a credible, people-oriented alternative.
In addition, the caucus encouraged all qualified party members to freely declare interest in contesting for elective positions, assuring them of fairness, inclusiveness, and strict adherence to internal democratic principles.
Dogo said the meeting also resolved that regular caucus and party meetings should be held at all levels to strengthen unity, improve communication, and boost grassroots mobilisation across Kaduna State.
According to her, the meeting concluded on a note of renewed hope, unity, and collective determination to reposition the PDP as a credible alternative capable of delivering good governance and addressing Nigerians’ needs.
