Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled a detailed schedule for its 2025/2026 ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses, paving the way for the party’s national convention in March 2026.
The timetable, signed by National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru, was released on Saturday and invokes Articles 11 and 17 of the APC Constitution to guide the election of officials at all levels.

For ward and local government area (LGA) congresses, aspiring candidates can purchase and submit forms from 4 to 9 February.
Screening occurs on 10 February, with appeals handled on 11-13 February. Ward congresses are slated for 14 February, followed by appeals on 18 February.
LGA congresses, including the election of three national convention delegates per LGA (one of whom must be female), will take place on 20 February, with appeals on 21 February.
State-level activities begin with form sales for executive positions from 23-27 February. Screening and appeals follow in early March, leading to state congresses on 7 March and appeals from 9-11 March.
Zonal congresses and national convention preparations intensify thereafter, with form purchases from 12-17 March.
Zonal screening and appeals are scheduled for 18-20 March, with zonal congresses held simultaneously on 21 March across designated centres: South West (Ibadan), South East (Enugu), South South (Rivers/Cross River), North West (Kaduna), North East (Gombe/Bauchi), and North Central (Nasarawa). Appeals from zonal congresses will be addressed on 23 March.
The culmination is the national convention, fixed for 25-28 March 2026.
