Manchester City defeat Brighton & Hove Albion to win the Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley on Sunday. The team secured their first domestic double since 2020.
Khadija Shaw opened the scoring in the 38th minute. The Jamaican international celebrated her new contract by striking first for City. Man City boss Andree Jeglertz added of Shaw: “A big credit to her that she thinks our programme will make her better and she can win titles, but also for the club being able to make it happen.
“It’s been a long process and they have been working so hard to get it on paper. It was a great thing they made it before this game, but also before everybody left (for the summer)
They finished as WSL champions under their new coach, Andrée Jeglertz, in his very first season in charge.
