American singer and model Chloe Bailey has revealed the reason behind her decision to keep her romantic life, including her relationship with Nigerian superstar Burna Boy, away from the public eye.
During a recent livestream, the Have Mercy crooner explained that her choice for privacy stems from a desire to protect her music career from unnecessary distractions and public scrutiny.
Responding to a fan’s question about her love life, Chloe said she has learned that being too open about her personal relationships often leads to people shifting the focus away from her talent.

“I decided to keep my relationship private because people on the internet tend to take advantage of it to discredit my music career and all,” she shared. “It’s like the moment they know who you’re dating, they stop talking about your work and start making everything about that relationship.”
Chloe, who has steadily built a reputation as one of the most talented young performers in American R&B, said maintaining privacy allows her to stay centered and focus on her art rather than social media drama.
Speculations about Chloe Bailey and Burna Boy’s relationship surfaced in late 2024 after the two were spotted together several times in Lagos during Chloe’s visit to Nigeria.
By early 2025, reports confirmed that they were indeed an item, though neither of them made a public statement officially acknowledging the relationship. Despite their chemistry and occasional public appearances, their current relationship status remains uncertain.
The Treat Me singer hinted that her past experiences with public scrutiny taught her the importance of emotional boundaries.
“When people know too much about your personal life, they start to control the narrative,” she explained. “I’d rather people talk about my voice, my performances, and my music than who I’m dating.”
While her connection with Burna Boy continues to generate curiosity, Chloe remains firm in her stance that her artistry should always come first.
