The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has announced that more governors are expected to defect to the ruling party in support of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
Speaking through the Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Emma Eneukwu, at the 12th Expanded Stakeholders’ Meeting of the Bayelsa State chapter in Yenagoa on Tuesday, Yilwatda revealed that the APC had formally endorsed Tinubu as its sole presidential candidate for the upcoming election.
He attributed the anticipated defections to Tinubu’s governance style and performance, which he said had already attracted several high-profile opposition figures to the APC.

Notably, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno recently left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC.
Yilwatda also disclosed that additional senators and members of the House of Representatives had joined the party, further consolidating its strength.
“Our doors remain open. More governors, senators, and House members are moving to our party because of the calibre, integrity, and results-driven leadership of President Tinubu,” Yilwatda declared.
He described Tinubu as a “lion” undeterred by opposition criticism, stressing the president’s determination to deliver transformative results for Nigeria.
Yilwatda praised South-South governors for their “realism and political maturity” in aligning with the APC, noting that their defections underscored Tinubu’s ability to unify leaders across regions.
“From the South-South to the South-East, leaders are abandoning their parties to support Mr President in 2027 for an overwhelming victory,” he said.
He further lauded Tinubu’s courage in implementing bold reforms that previous administrations had avoided, insisting that these efforts were steering Nigeria towards greater heights.

“This president is not afraid. He takes the bull by the horns, achieving what others could not,” Yilwatda added.
