Comedian Aderombi Adedayo Martin, widely known as DeeOne, has announced plans to attempt the world’s longest stand-up comedy performance, a feat officially approved by the Guinness World Records (GWR).
The comedian shared the news on Instagram on Friday, describing the challenge as a chance to push boundaries and showcase Nigerian talent on the global stage.
“There comes a time in every man’s life when he must test the limit of what is possible for himself, his people, his craft, and generations watching,” DeeOne said, expressing his determination to succeed.
According to him, the record attempt will involve more than 40 hours of non-stop comedy and storytelling. The event is scheduled to take place from October 2 to October 4, 2025, at Pallazo Lagos, Opebi, Ikeja.
DeeOne, who rose to fame as a contestant on Big Brother Naija Season 3 (Double Wahala), has since built a career in comedy and entertainment.
Known for his witty takes and humorous storytelling, he said the record attempt is not only a personal challenge but also an opportunity to uplift the Nigerian creative industry.

“This is bigger than me,” he added. “It is about proving that we have what it takes as Nigerians to compete on any stage, anywhere in the world.”
The announcement has sparked excitement among fans, who see the move as a bold step in placing Nigerian comedians on the global comedy map.
Some industry colleagues have also expressed support, praising DeeOne for daring to attempt a task that demands stamina, resilience, and creativity.
The upcoming challenge comes at a time when several Nigerian celebrities are turning to world record attempts as a way of gaining international recognition.
Just a few days ago, fellow BBNaija alumna, Tacha Akide, revealed her plan to attempt the record for the most makeovers within 48 hours. Her own attempt is set to hold from October 10 to October 12, 2025.
These efforts reflect a growing trend among Nigerian entertainers to leverage global platforms like Guinness World Records to highlight their talents and inspire fans.
For DeeOne, the challenge will require not only endless hours of performance but also careful preparation to meet the strict rules and standards set by GWR.
Stand-up comedy records often demand uninterrupted delivery, minimal pauses, and constant audience engagement, a test of both endurance and creativity.

If successful, DeeOne’s attempt would place him in the history books as the comedian who kept audiences laughing for nearly two full days without a break.
As anticipation builds ahead of October, all eyes will be on Pallazo Lagos to see whether the comedian can meet the challenge and bring home another Guinness World Record for Nigeria.
