Temitope Ajayi, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Bola Tinubu, has drawn a striking comparison between the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and former U.S. President Donald Trump.
Ajayi referred to Obi as Nigeria’s version of Trump, highlighting their similarities in political rhetoric and appeal.
Trump, a former politician, media personality, and businessman, served as the 45th President of the United States from 2017 to 2021. He is currently running for the presidency again under the Republican Party.
In a statement posted on his X (formerly Twitter) page on Wednesday, Ajayi noted that, much like Trump, Obi often employs highly critical and negative language to describe the very country he seeks to lead.
According to Ajayi, this tactic aims to resonate with Obi’s supporters, stirring emotions and reinforcing their belief in his message.
“Peter Obi tends to portray the country in a very negative light, similar to how Trump approaches his political messaging. This stirs strong emotions among his followers,” Ajayi stated.
