The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed recent public remarks by Minister Nyesom Wike as a desperate “political swan song” and the “last kicks of a dying horse”.
In a strongly worded press statement issued by its Office of the National Publicity Secretary, the PDP described Wike’s latest media appearance as “an unsolicited overdosage of political rascality, moral emptiness, crass opportunism, and post-loss trauma”.

Wike challenges PDP faction to prove legitimacy amid deepening leadership crisis
The party accused the Minister of funding a media event in which he allegedly maligned distinguished Nigerians with “reckless abandon”. It described the session as “full of sound and fury, signifying nothing”, quoting Shakespeare to underscore its view that the outburst lacked substance.
The PDP said it would not dignify Wike’s tirade with a detailed response, calling it instead his “political swan song”. The statement served as “a profuse apology to Nigerians for offering a platform to a person whose conduct, speeches, and reasoning have become not just a national but an international disgrace”.
The party further stated that had it not lent its platform to Wike in the past when he served as Chairman, Minister of State, and Governor, “the nation would have been saved the unmitigated damage done to the psyche of countless Nigerians”.
The PDP sympathised with Wike over what it described as the pain of realising he “will not and can never be the National Leader” of the party, noting that no such office exists in the PDP constitution. It added that even if it did, Wike’s conduct and speech would make him “grossly insufficient” for the role.

The statement also addressed Wike’s frustration regarding the party’s ongoing sale of forms for primaries and the forthcoming national convention.
It described his claims about bank accounts and party finances as “delusional”, asserting that his group of friends were already receiving money through private accounts.
On legal matters raised by the Minister, the PDP said it was awaiting Certified True Copies of court judgments on dismissed cross-appeals and challenged Wike to publicly disclose the reliefs sought by his associates and the actual court ruling.
The party concluded by assuring Nigerians that “no amount of threats” would frighten the truth, and that “though lies like those vomited by Wike travel faster than the truth, they will not reduce the efficacy of the truth when it arrives”.
