The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has said it will present candidates in the 2027 general elections, rejecting claims that it may not taket part.
The party made this known in a statement issued on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi.
The ADC said that the claims were false and meant to confuse the public, while stressing that it is preparing to contest and win elections across the country.
Reports that claimed the party will not present candidates in 2027 have been dismissed as “unfounded and mischievous”.

The party said that there is no law stopping it from taking part in the elections, noting that it remains fully compliant with the Constitution and the Electoral Act, and has already begun building strong structures nationwide.
The statement maintained, “The ADC will present candidates in the 2027 general elections. Not just candidates, but credible, competent, and nationally acceptable candidates. . .”
The party said its focus is on offering Nigerians a better option and addressing critical issues facing the country.
The ADC also restated its position as a leading opposition force, insisting that it is working to mobilise citizens who are unhappy with the current state of the country, including rising cost of living, insecurity, and lack of opportunities.
The party, in addition, said that recent claims about its absence in the 2027 race were designed to weaken its growing support base.
“There is no legal impediment to our participation in the 2027 elections, and any suggestion to the contrary is a deliberate attempt to mislead the public,” the party said.
The ADC noted that it is not distracted by such claims and remains committed to its goals. It said its main aim is to organise effectively and build a strong platform that can challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at all levels.
ADC further urged its members and supporters to stay focused and ignore baseless rumours.
The party said the task ahead requires unity and clear direction, especially as preparations for the next general elections gather pace.
“The task before us is too important to be derailed by speculation,” the statement said.
The party maintained that it will continue its efforts to expand its reach and strengthen its presence across the country ahead of the 2027 elections.
