Reality TV star and rapper Olamilekan Agbeleshebioba, popularly known as Laycon, has opened up about his journey toward self-discovery and the role inner peace has played in shaping his personal growth.
The rapper, who gained widespread recognition after winning Big Brother Naija in 2020, shared the experience in a recent video broadcast titled Life With Laycon.

During the broadcast, Laycon revealed that after his victory on the reality show, he struggled internally and felt disconnected from his inner voice for a period of time.
“Has the world ever gone silent on you and all you have left was your own thoughts?” he asked while reflecting on the experience.
According to the ‘Fierce’ crooner, the intense attention and rapid changes that followed his win affected his sense of clarity, making it difficult for him to hear his inner thoughts.
“I have been there and I want to share a part of that experience with you. After I won Big Brother Naija in 2020, I lost my inner voice,” he said.
Laycon explained that he only regained that sense of inner clarity in December 2021, shortly after hosting his sold-out concert known as The Icons Fest.
“The first time I heard that voice again was December 2021 after my sold-out concert, The Icons Fest,” he said.
He recalled that once the inner voice returned, it began asking him difficult but necessary questions about his life and happiness.
“The voice kept asking me questions like, ‘Is this really how you want to live? Are you enjoying yourself? What’s next after this? Are you happy?’” he said.
According to Laycon, those questions pushed him to spend time alone reflecting deeply about his life and future.
He explained that stepping away from distractions allowed him to confront certain uncomfortable truths about himself and his personal journey.
“Questions that made me want to sit alone with my thoughts. So, that’s what I did. From that conversation came a lot of necessary but uncomfortable truths and realisation about myself,” he added.
The rapper also noted that many people struggle with personal growth because they fear solitude and silence. In his view, silence is a powerful tool for self-awareness and transformation.
Laycon described silence as a mirror that reflects one’s life and decisions to them, creating an opportunity for honest evaluation and personal improvement.
Although silence can sometimes feel uncomfortable, he believes it plays a crucial role in helping individuals understand themselves better.
He therefore encouraged his fans and followers to embrace moments of solitude and self-reflection as a way to take responsibility for their personal development and make meaningful changes in their lives.
