Idris in a statement shared on Facebook alleged that some elements of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), working through Seriake Dickson, are behind the move.
He affirmed, “I strongly believe the NDC is a calculated trap being promoted by some NADECO elements through Seriake Dickson.”

He claimed that the plan is to weaken the opposition and divide its leaders.
His remark suggested that the NDC is not a normal political effort. He raised questions about how it was approved.
“Why, among all applicants seeking registration of new political parties, was only the NDC approved? On what grounds, and for what purpose?” he asked.
Idris insisted that the process should be clear to the public.
He also spoke about the role of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The leadership of the NDC, according to Idris, was placed on the INEC portal based on a court order. He said this step has added to his concerns about the party’s formation and intent.
Idris further claimed that there was an earlier move to push members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) into the NDC.
He said this followed the removal of the ADC National Working Committee from the INEC portal.
“Initially, when INEC removed the ADC NWC leadership from its portal, they assumed we would panic and rush into the NDC. Having failed in that move, they have now activated a second strategy,” he said.
He explained that the new plan is to attract key opposition figures into the NDC.
Idris named Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as targets. He warned that such a move could weaken the ADC coalition and reduce its strength ahead of future elections.
He also accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu of being aware of the risks of a united opposition.
He said a strong alliance among opposition parties could challenge their hold on power.
Idris called on opposition leaders to remain careful.
“His Excellency Peter Obi must remain calm and vigilant, and must not allow anyone to use his influence to create division within the ADC. The same applies to Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso,” he said.
He urged unity among opposition groups, noting that they must work together to protect democracy and resist any plan that could divide them.
