In marking the fallen heros remembrance day in Nigeria, the Lagos state Government announced the provision of free medical care for the families of military officers who lost their lives during service with other supports.
During the Interdenominational Divine Service held yesterday at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja, to celebrate the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu urged residents to honour the sacrifice laid by the nation’s fallen heroes.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said this day marks the reflection of the legacy of the gallant officers and their selfless service to the nation, which birthed development, and he urged Lagosians to emulate selflessness.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, stressed inclusive policy and citizen action that fosters growth and development for all.
“We owe it to our heroes to sustain their vision by extending a helping hand to those in need and creating opportunities for all,” he said.
While expressing gratitude to the legacy made by the fallen heroes, Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that their sacrifices are immeasurable.
While acknowledging the commitment of the state government to the legacy left behind, he outlined initiatives that will improve the lives of Lagos residents and the families of fallen heroes.

Among the initiatives is the provision of free medical healthcare to families of fallen heroes in government-owned hospitals, among other packages.
“These efforts are deliberate,” Sanwo-Olu noted. “We are not only remembering these heroes in words but ensuring their families feel supported and cared for, even in their absence.
”He revealed key projects achieved aimed at easing the lives of residents, including the commissioning of over 25 bridges and road networks in recent weeks, with more projects set for completion soon.
The Lagos state government seeks collaboration from individuals, non-governmental organisations, and public-spirited entities to further improve the standard of living for the families of fallen heroes.
Very Rev’d Oladapo Emmanuel Daramola, Presbyter and Cathedral Administrator of the Methodist Cathedral of Peace and Excellence, Opebi, during his sermon titled Remembering the Faithful Heroes, he highlighted the significance of faith steward.
Attendees included the Lagos State Executive Council, permanent secretaries, military and paramilitary officers, among others.
