Following the assumption of office as the 47th Commissioner of Police (CP) in Rivers State, Olubenga Adepoju has assured residents of maximum security and crime prevention during his reign.
He gave this assurance on Friday during a media conference held with journalists at the Police Headquarters, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.
While addressing the members of the press, he highlighted the significant role of the media in providing accurate information and maintaining law in the state, urging for collaboration from the media.
“I urge you to continue to work with us, to hold us accountable, and to share with us the concerns and expectations of the people that we serve.”
He added that his command is open to transparency and constructive criticism from citizens.

The former Divisional Police Officer (DPO) emphasised that its command will operate on zero tolerance for corruption, fight against land grabbers, punish law offenders, and address other developmental issues.
He expressed gratitude to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun for the opportunity given to him to serve the state.
Describing the state as the nation’s economic hubs, faced with unique security challenges, he promised to employ a proactive and strategic approach to tackle rising issues.
Adepoju further revealed that Rivers State Police Commands will enforce vehicle regulation, especially on tinted vehicles, due to the high crime rate, and warned against document alteration, noting that violators will be punished.
Also, he pledged to work closely with stakeholders, curb cultism and youth violence, combat oil theft, and protect human rights, among other societal problems.
“My administration will be guided by integrity, transparency, and a strong sense of duty,” Adepoju acknowledged.
He reaffirmed the command commitment in upholding professionalism, aiming to maintain law and order in the entire state at large.
