Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has sparked conversations online after sharing his opinion on infidelity and relationships, claiming that cheating affects women differently from men emotionally and psychologically.
Speaking during a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, the actor argued that when a woman begins to cheat in a relationship or marriage, it often means she has already lost emotional attachment to her partner.

According to Yul Edochie, women are naturally deeply emotional in relationships and usually remain loyal and supportive when they genuinely love a man.
He, however, stated that many men end up in relationships with women who are not emotionally invested in them, which eventually leads to infidelity.
“If you meet a woman who loves you, she will be willing to do anything for you,” he said.
“But the problem is that a lot of men are with women who don’t love them and are wasting their time. So, they can’t get commitment from them because those women are not into them. She is into someone else.”
The actor further referenced a recent trending scandal involving allegations of an affair between a married woman and a younger man, suggesting that the situation reflected emotional detachment within the marriage.
Although he did not mention names, Edochie appeared to refer to the ongoing controversy involving media personality Frank Edoho, his estranged wife Sandra Edoho, and singer Chike.
“I don’t want to mention names, but look at the recent controversy over the alleged illicit affair of a young man with a married woman, where the husband was complaining to his wife to save their marriage, and the wife was trying to protect the young man,” he said.
“That is because it is the young man that she truly loves. Do you know how much she might have spent on him?”
Yul Edochie argued that once many women begin cheating, they have already emotionally disconnected from the relationship.
“I tell you, once a woman begins to cheat, she has checked out emotionally and psychologically,” he added.
“That is why, in some of the leaked alleged voice notes of the cheating woman and her lover, they were mocking her husband. It is normal for many women that once they begin to cheat, they have checked out.”
The actor also maintained that cheating should never be tolerated in relationships, especially by men.
According to him, forgiving infidelity is a sign of weakness, insisting that men should set firm boundaries in relationships.
“So, there is nothing like forgiveness when it comes to cheating. If you do, you are a weak man,” he stated.
Yul Edochie further claimed that women generally prefer emotionally strong men and may lose attraction when they perceive weakness.
“People don’t understand, women love deeper. Just find the one who loves you, and you will be surprised how sweet life is,” he said.
“You can tell once you meet the one who loves you. Don’t be a fool because of a woman. If you simp for women, you can’t get a real woman. You must set boundaries. Women don’t love weak men.”
His comments have since generated mixed reactions on social media, with some users agreeing with parts of his argument while others criticised his views as overly generalised and unfair toward women.
Some online users argued that infidelity affects relationships regardless of gender and that emotional detachment can also happen with men.
Others also pointed out that forgiveness and reconciliation in relationships depend on individual values, circumstances, and the willingness of both partners to rebuild trust.
The comments add to the growing online discourse surrounding relationships, infidelity, accountability, and emotional commitment among celebrities and public figures in Nigeria.
Yul Edochie himself has remained a controversial figure in recent years following public scrutiny surrounding his personal life and relationships, particularly after introducing actress Judy Austin as his second wife while still married to his first wife, May Edochie.
Despite the criticisms he often faces online, the actor continues to share his opinions on relationships, marriage, family values, and social issues through interviews and social media platforms.
