Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has rejected the outcome of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primaries, describing the results as “concocted” and alleging widespread voter disenfranchisement and electoral malpractice.
In a statement posted on his X handle after the primaries, Amaechi said he would not accept any outcome that failed to reflect fairness, transparency, and inclusion.
“Following reports of widespread voter disenfranchisement in most parts of the country during the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Primaries yesterday, I unequivocally reject the concocted results being announced,” he said.
He insisted that he had earlier made it clear he would only accept the result if the process was free and fair, adding that he stood by that position.
“I will not accept results from a process that does not reflect the values that the ADC had pledged to uphold,” he stated.
Amaechi also accused the party leadership of betraying the ideals on which the ADC was founded, saying it was meant to provide a credible alternative platform for Nigerians.
According to him, about 80 percent of party members were allegedly denied the opportunity to vote, questioning the credibility of the exercise.

“There’s no way that about eighty per cent of members of the party were not allowed to vote, and you expect me to accept such results,” he queried.
He further criticised what he described as inconsistencies between the party’s public stance against electoral malpractice and its internal conduct.
“A party that criticises the ruling APC and INEC for vote buying, rigging and writing of results, cannot be engaged in vote buying, writing of results… This is not acceptable,” he said.
Although the ADC has yet to formally announce final results from all states and the Federal Capital Territory, early figures reportedly show former Vice President Atiku Abubakar leading, with Amaechi in second place and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen in third.
