The party further stated that all payments relating to the purchase of forms must be made only into bank accounts approved by the APC. This directive is expected to help the party control the nomination process and reduce the risk of unauthorised payments or confusion among aspirants.
Although the statement did not give the full details of the revised dates, it made clear that the changes affect important stages in the party’s internal election process. These stages are crucial because they determine how candidates will emerge for various elective positions ahead of the 2027 polls.
The screening of aspirants is one of the most important steps in any party nomination process. It allows the party to examine the eligibility, background and documents of those seeking its tickets. The appeals process also gives aspirants the opportunity to challenge decisions made during screening or other internal procedures.
The primary elections will be the stage where the party chooses its candidates for the general elections. For a ruling party like the APC, the timetable is expected to attract close attention from politicians, state chapters, support groups and party members across the country.
The release of the revised schedule signals that the APC is beginning early preparations for the 2027 elections. It also gives aspirants time to study the new guidelines, prepare their documents and understand the rules they must follow.
The party urged all interested aspirants and stakeholders to comply with the approved timetable and payment procedures. It also made clear that only the official channels provided by the party should be used for transactions linked to nomination and expression of interest forms.
The development is likely to shape early political calculations within the APC as party leaders, governors, lawmakers and other interested politicians prepare for the next general elections.
With the revised timetable now released, attention will turn to how the party manages its internal processes, especially screening, appeals and primaries, which often determine the level of unity or tension within political parties before major elections.
