Security operatives, in collaboration with the SafeCity Volunteer Foundation, have apprehended a group of kidnapper gang members who lure and kill unsuspecting victims, leaving with their belongings in Rivers State.
This was disclosed by the leader of the SafeCity Volunteer Foundation, Harrison Gwamnishu, in a video shared via his verified Facebook page on Monday.
Gwamnishu narrated how the prime suspects, Kelechi Wofuru along with his accomplices, allegedly killed several victims, particularly bus drivers, luring from Port Harcourt to Elele-Isiokpo road and Ubima.

“They specialize in luring bus drivers from Portharcourt to the Elele-Isiokpo road and Ubima, where they kill their victims and take their body parts,” Gwamnishu disclosed.
He revealed that Wofuru was charged in court in November 2025 for alleged kidnapping but was later freed by the court, stressing that the victim for whom he was charged in court has not been found.
According to Gwamnishu, despite being freed from court until now, the suspects have killed seven victims, urging that families whose relatives have gone missing should file a report to Rivers State Police Command.
In the shared video, he recalled how the suspect who was said to have initially denied his involvement with the killing led the team of security personnel, including his team, to a forest where the recent victim’s lifeless body, Ifeanyi Ibobo, was discovered.
He disclosed that the family of the victim had contacted him on 5 March, ‘Ash Wednesday,’ via WhatsApp, saying that their relative had gone missing.
After several inquiries, he was tracked to Ubima, he noted.
“We tracked this kidnapper to Ubima; this guy, Kelechi Ubima, is a very smart guy. We tracked him down to Ubima through the help of a police officer whose phone number we found in Kelechi’s phone.”
The video dated 22 March, 2026, captured the remains of the deceased, Mr. Ibobo, and one other who had been discomposed and left with a broken skeleton scattered around the tick bush.
He, however, appreciated the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, the Commander of the Special Intelligence and Operations Unit, and my Rivers SafeCity team, led by Adebayo Steve, for the successful operation.
The Commands Spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed this revelation on her Facebook.
