Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have repelled fresh attacks by Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters in parts of Borno and Yobe states, while also rescuing dozens of abducted civilians amid renewed military offensives across the North-East.
The military said the latest operations disrupted coordinated terrorist movements along the Buratai-Chara axis in Borno State after surveillance teams detected what it described as “large numbers” of insurgents advancing towards the area.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, troops engaged the fighters with sustained firepower, forcing them to retreat before reinforcement teams launched follow-up pursuit operations.

The military disclosed that 169 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition were recovered after the operation. He added that no casualty was recorded among soldiers involved in the encounter.
The latest operation comes as security agencies intensify pressure on insurgent enclaves in the North-East ahead of the Eid-el-Adha celebrations, during persistent concerns over attacks on rural communities, abductions and cross-border terrorist movements.
Uba stated that troops also recorded another operational success in Yobe State, where personnel of the 27 Task Force Brigade, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force and local hunters, carried out an ambush around Kasaicia village in Gujba Local Government Area.
He said four suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters were killed during the operation, while troops recovered two AK-47 rifles and empty magazines.
The statement further noted that soldiers under Sector 1 of the operation foiled another attempted attack around the Kirawa axis, where troops reportedly inflicted “heavy casualties” on the attackers.
Although the military did not provide independent casualty figures or details of the insurgents’ identities, the operations reflect ongoing efforts by security forces to weaken armed groups operating within the Sambisa forest corridor and adjoining border communities.
Beyond direct combat operations, the military also announced the rescue of more civilians abducted along the Ngoshe-Amuda axis, bringing the total number of rescued victims linked to the incident to 69.
One of the rescued victims, according to the military, escaped from captivity in the Gwoza area after sustained bombardments and troop offensives around terrorist hideouts in the Mandara Mountains.
The operation also extended to anti-crime raids beyond insurgency-related activities.
In Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, troops arrested three suspected armed robbers at Gar Gwigwi village following intelligence reports. Recovered items included mobile phones, charms, wristwatches, cash, a dagger and a dane gun.
The military added that troops arrested a suspected terrorist collaborator in Monguno, while another suspect allegedly linked to drug trafficking was apprehended in Mubi South Local Government Area of Adamawa State with substances suspected to be cannabis sativa.
Meanwhile, Operation HADIN KAI said it recovered improvised explosive devices and other abandoned logistics materials during clearance operations around the Magza area.
The military maintained that sustained offensives across Damboa, Gwoza, Goniri and other flashpoints were aimed at restricting terrorist movement and preventing regrouping attempts by insurgent factions across the region.
Uba stated that the military remained committed to “protecting civilians and restoring lasting peace” across the North-East while urging troops to sustain operational pressure on armed groups operating within the theatre.
