Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar says the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is the only opposition party capable of defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next general election.
In a post on X on Saturday, Atiku described the ADC as “strong in ideals and structure,” expressing confidence in its readiness to challenge the ruling party.
“I remain convinced that the ADC has risen as Nigeria’s true opposition force — one that is strong in ideals, structure, and resolve, and ready to challenge and defeat the failing APC in the elections ahead,” he wrote.
The former vice-president also revealed that he hosted stakeholders of the ADC from Adamawa State at his Abuja residence on Friday, describing the visit as “deeply touching.”
“I thanked them for the gesture and reminded the new state leadership that unity is now their sacred duty: to heal divisions, carry everyone along, and lead with fairness,” he added.
Meanwhile, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s national publicity secretary, said Nigerians are determined to vote out Bola Tinubu in 2027, alleging that his policies have worsened living conditions.
Abdullahi was reacting to Tinubu’s remarks at the State House on Thursday, where the president said he was not worried about growing opposition.
“They want to scare me off? It’s a lie. I’ve been through this path before,” Tinubu had said.
Abdullahi, however, argued that the president’s comments show a disconnect from the realities of economic hardship, insecurity, and public frustration across the country.
