Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri presented a 2025 budget of N689.4 billion to the State House of Assembly on Thursday.
In a statement on his X page, the governor described the appropriation bill as the ‘Budget of Assured Prosperity’.
He emphasised that his administration will prioritize development in 2025, dedicating 61.8 per cent of the total budget—approximately N426.1 billion—to capital expenditures.
Meanwhile, the proposed N263.4 billion, representing 38.2 per cent of the budget, is allocated to recurrent expenditures.
“This afternoon and in the exercise of my constitutional powers, I laid our 2025 Budget estimates of six hundred and eighty-nine billion, four hundred and forty million three hundred and forty-eight thousand, nine hundred and sixteen Naira, thirty kobo (₦689,440,348,916.30) only to the State House of Assembly for timely passage.

“Under our ASSURED Agenda initiative, the Prosperity administration is investing in an Independent Power Plant with an outright purchase of a new Gas Turbine to boost power supply to the State”, he said.
The governor announced that the budget includes provisions for constructing a proposed ultra-modern stadium, a new secretariat building, and 1,000 housing units across the eight Local Government Areas.
He also reiterated the administration’s commitment to completing all ongoing road projects, such as the Nembe-Brass road, Yenagoa-Oporoma road, Ogu-Ayama-Okodi road, Bolou-Orua-Okumbiri-Toru-Ebebi road, and others.

Diri added, “In 2025, we will continue with our programmes and projects in the Education, Health, Community Development, Agriculture and other sectors. Let me appreciate Mr. Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere and other members for the continued collaboration in our drives to meet the hopes and aspirations of our people for a greater, united and prosperous Bayelsa State. As a government, we are here to serve and service we shall give to our people.”
