In a tightly contested fixture that promises to be thrilling between Arsenal and Chelsea on Sunday, Arsenal winger Noni Madueke says he is eagerly looking forward to meeting his former club, describing the contest as a battle between “two elite sides.”
The 23-year-old recently netted Arsenal’s second goal in their 3–1 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League — a result that keeps the Gunners at the top of the group with 15 points and continues their impressive start to the campaign.
Madueke came off the bench and connected with a pass from Riccardo Calafiori in the 69th minute, restoring Arsenal’s advantage.
“I’m buzzing for it!” he said when asked about the upcoming clash with Chelsea. “You go eight weeks without doing what you love most, so you’re itching to get back out there.”
With Arsenal leading the league and Chelsea sitting just behind them, Madueke believes the matchup could be one of the defining fixtures of the season.
“First versus second they’ve got quality, we’ve got quality it’s set to be a fantastic match,” he added.
Chelsea head into the game in strong form as well, having defeated Barcelona 3–0 in the Champions League after a 2–0 league victory over Burnley.
Despite his recent European goal, the English winger is still yet to find the net in the Premier League.
