Prominent gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey and popular cleric Pastor Jerry Eze have called for urgent and decisive action to address Nigeria’s worsening insecurity, urging the government and security agencies to confront terrorism, banditry, and the growing wave of kidnappings across the country.
The two influential religious figures issued the call on Wednesday through separate messages shared on social media, expressing deep concern over the recent surge in violent attacks.

Pastor Eze, in a strongly worded prayer post, condemned the perpetrators of insecurity and their alleged sponsors. He asked God to bring judgement upon those responsible for the continuous violence.
“About time, God of judgement spares no enemy of Nigeria and their sponsors in Jesus’ name. Enough is enough of this banditry, terrorism, and wickedness,” he wrote.
Nathaniel Bassey also weighed in on the deteriorating situation, stressing the need for accountability and collective action.
He urged the government, the armed forces, intelligence agencies, and citizens to unite in confronting those responsible for the ongoing attacks.
He added, “Peace shall reign in Nigeria. Nigeria shall prosper and fulfil her destiny in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
Their comments follow a series of violent incidents that have shaken communities in different parts of the country. On Sunday, suspected bandits attacked a Christ Apostolic Church parish in Eruku, Kwara State, killing at least two worshippers.
The armed men stormed the church during service, leaving several others injured and plunging the community into fear.
In a separate attack the same week, gunmen abducted 25 students from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State.
The assailants reportedly killed a staff member before escaping with the students, prompting a massive security response and nationwide outrage.
The spate of attacks has sparked widespread condemnation from religious leaders, civil society groups, and members of the entertainment industry.
Actors, comedians, and other public figures have also taken to social media to demand that President Bola Tinubu’s administration intensify efforts to secure lives and property.
With insecurity affecting communities across the North-West, North-Central, and parts of the South, the calls from Nathaniel Bassey and Pastor Jerry Eze add to the growing pressure on the government to take more decisive action.
Both leaders urged Nigerians to stay united, pray for the nation, and support lawful efforts to restore peace.
Their messages have since attracted thousands of reactions online, reflecting the widespread anxiety over the country’s security challenges.
