Oladimeji Animashaun, the General Manager of LASURA, led the exercise, with attendance from LASURA staff, community leaders, and security agencies.
He stressed that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is firmly committed to compensating all affected property owners.
Animashaun highlighted the governor’s track record in keeping promises, pointing to the earlier payment of compensation to 79 displaced residents in the first round as evidence.
He also acknowledged the contributions of Olajide Babatunde, the Special Adviser on E-GIS and Urban Development, and Gbolahan Oki, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Urban Development, for their instrumental involvement.
For the current exercise, affected residents are required to submit key documents, including: LASSRA ID cards, passport photographs, land receipts or deeds of conveyance, and bank details.
A dedicated committee, comprising LASURA staff, community leaders, and representatives of the affected residents, will handle the verification of these documents.
Following the successful verification, cheques will be presented to the deserving property owners.
To streamline the payment process, representatives from FCMB were present on-site to facilitate the opening of bank accounts for residents who do not currently have one.
