Bayelsa State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Seiyefa Brisibe, has outlined the fundamental strategies for training health professionals in the state as part of efforts to boost life expectancy and enhance healthcare delivery.
Speaking during the 2026 Annual Operational Plan (AOP) workshop for health workers, Brisibe said the initiative aims to deepen the Ministry’s vision of equitable and accessible healthcare for all Bayelsans in support of Governor Douye Diri’s Assured Prosperity administration.
In a post shared on Bayelsa State Ministry of Information, Orientation and Strategy on Monday, he explained that the AOP serves as a yearly blueprint for executing targeted health interventions, improving public health outcomes, and reinforcing the state’s healthcare system.

The Commissioner also announced the receipt of three portable digital X-rays donated by the Global Fund through the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control Programme (NTBLCP), meant to strengthen TB detection efforts in the state.
According to him, “On behalf of the Ministry, I handed over the X-rays- one(1) for a private health facility and two(2) for our public facilities across the State and urged the management of the facilities to prioritize TB screening and endeavour to maintain the equipments as well use it to build capacity of our Radiographers.”
He assured that the Ministry would continue to pursue reforms aimed at achieving a robust and sustainable healthcare system.
