A single goal from Jean-Philippe Mateta sealed the victory for Crystal Palace as they defeated Rayo Vallecano to lift the Conference League, the third-tier European competition. Crystal Palace has now secured their first-ever European title.
After navigating an impressive path to the final that included strong group stage displays and resilient knockout stage triumphs over tough opponents, the Eagles reached their maiden European final through determination and attacking quality.

The match stayed closely contested from the start, with both sides cautious in their first-ever European final appearance. Palace created the better chances in the first half, while Rayo Vallecano threatened occasionally through Alexandre Alemao and Unai Lopez.
Early in the second half, the decisive moment arrived when Augusto Batalla parried Adam Wharton’s long-range effort, and Mateta pounced to score from close range. Palace continued pressing for a second goal and came close through Yeremy Pino and Mateta again, but the woodwork and Batalla’s saves denied them.
Rayo pushed hard late for an equalizer, yet Palace defended resolutely to secure the historic triumph. The win marked a perfect farewell for manager Oliver Glasner, who delivered the club’s greatest achievement.
Earlier in the season, Glasner had already guided Palace to the Community Shield with a victory over Liverpool and the FA Cup thanks to a brilliant solo goal from Eberechi Eze. With this Conference League success, Palace now qualifies for next season’s Europa League.
Attention now turns to the Champions League final in Budapest, where Arsenal faces defending champions Paris Saint-Germain. Can another English club dominate after Aston Villa and Crystal Palace triumphed in the Europa League and Conference League respectively?
