An 86-year-old former teacher accused of historical sexual abuse in Scotland has been arrested in South Africa on an additional 90 charges.
The former educator at Edinburgh Academy and Fettes College during the 1960s and 1970s, Iain Wares, has been accused of sexually and physically abusing dozens of former pupils,
BBC presenter Nicky Campbell was amongst the victims.
Wares, who currently resides in Cape Town, was approved for extradition by the South African High Court in August 2023 on three charges to face trial in Scotland.
However, the process was delayed while UK authorities prepared to submit further charges.
Recent allegations were brought forward by 65 individuals who alleged to have been abused by Wares while he worked in Scotland.
Victims have also accused both Edinburgh Academy and Fettes College of failing to report complaints about him to the authorities, allowing him to leave for South Africa in 1979, where he continued teaching until his retirement in 2006.
The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) in Scotland previously confirmed that Wares faced 74 charges.
Prosecutors in 2018 tried to extradite him. This led to his arrest the following year on seven charges of lewd, indecent and libidinous acts and behaviour.
In addition to the Scottish case, Wares is also facing a local trial in Cape Town following accusations from a former student in South Africa.
He has been granted bail, with a court hearing scheduled to begin on 20 November.
