The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has assured defectors joining the party that they will be treated equally and enjoy the same rights as existing members.
Yilwatda made this statement during a stakeholders’ meeting of the party held yesterday at the Crest Hotel in Jos, Plateau State.
The meeting was attended by top party stakeholders and political leaders from across the state.
The APC chairman announced that a large number of prominent members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) are expected to join the party next week, with arrangements for their defection already concluded.
“I can categorically tell you that by next week, I will be receiving some notable figures from the ADC. It is not just PDP members joining our party. Many from the ADC have indicated interest, and some have already completed their screening,” he stated.
According to his statement, the expected defectors include serving and former governors as well as National Assembly members.
He further assured that all new members would be treated as equal partners in the party’s progress.
“Those defecting to the APC will enjoy the same rights and privileges as those who have been with us from the beginning. We believe in fairness and equal treatment for all members,” he said.
He also commended President Bola Tinubu for his exceptional leadership style, describing him as a friend of the minority who has given Plateau State recognition and a stronger voice in national politics.
“Mr. President has proven to be a friend of the minority, especially here in Plateau. He has shown fairness and given us a sense of belonging. We have every reason to support him and ensure his re-election in 2027,” Yilwatda said.
