A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has stated that the party’s forthcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting will address, in firm terms, all individuals found to be working against the interests of the party.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday, George dismissed any notion that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, holds undue sway over the PDP, asserting that Wike does not “own” the party.
“Nyesom Wike does not own the PDP; he joined the party just like everybody else did,” George said.
“If you think it’s only because of his money that he remains a member of the party, wait until the NEC meeting where decisive actions will be taken on all those who have committed a ‘hara-kiri’.”

George emphasised that, unlike the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he claimed is “owned by one individual,” the PDP remains a collective platform built on democratic principles.
His comments come amid mounting uncertainty surrounding the party’s upcoming 100th NEC meeting, scheduled for Monday, 30 June 2025.
Rumours of postponement had been circulating, but the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) has firmly denied any such change to the meeting date.
Additionally, the NWC dismissed claims that Senator Samuel Anyanwu had been reinstated as the party’s National Secretary, following comments made by the Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum, during a press briefing on Wednesday.

George, a vocal critic of disunity within the PDP, appeared unfazed by Wike’s perceived influence in the ongoing internal disputes, hinting that the NEC would take a hard line against disloyalty and internal sabotage.
The political climate within the PDP remains tense, as party faithful await the outcome of the high-stakes NEC meeting, which is expected to set the tone for future cohesion or further division within the party ranks.
