President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling terrorism, banditry and other forms of criminality across the country, declaring that the Federal Government will never yield to forces seeking to undermine Nigeria’s peace, stability and democratic progress.
The President made the pledge through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, during the National Inter-Denominational Church Service held at the National Christian Centre in Abuja on Sunday. The service formed part of activities commemorating the 2026 Democracy Day celebration.
Addressing worshippers on behalf of President Tinubu, Akume stated that the administration remains resolute in its efforts to strengthen security operations nationwide and restore safety in communities affected by criminal activities. He stressed that the government is working tirelessly to ensure the release of citizens currently being held captive by kidnappers and other criminal groups.

According to the President’s message, recent incidents of violence, attacks and abductions in various parts of the country underscore the need for sustained and coordinated action by security agencies.

The President assured citizens that the government is committed to enhancing the operational capacity of security agencies and implementing measures aimed at effectively confronting emerging security threats.
Beyond security concerns, Tinubu acknowledged the economic difficulties being experienced by many Nigerians, including rising living costs and inflationary pressures. He assured the public that his administration is taking deliberate steps to address these challenges while ensuring that the benefits of democracy reach all segments of society.
According to him, the government remains mindful of public concerns over insecurity, economic hardship and the displacement of communities in some regions of the country. As Nigeria prepares to celebrate another Democracy Day, the President called on citizens to remain united, hopeful and supportive of ongoing efforts to strengthen democratic institutions, promote national development and secure a safer future for all Nigerians.
