Big Brother Naija Season 4 winner Mercy Eke has shared her candid perspective on fame and wealth, revealing that she places far greater value on financial success than public recognition.
Speaking in an interview with Odira Ndubuaku, the reality TV star stated that fame, in her view, holds little significance without money to back it up.

She explained that while she enjoys certain aspects of being in the spotlight, it is not something she considers essential to her happiness or long-term goals.
“I only enjoy being famous occasionally. I would trade my fame for 2 billion dollars. Wettin dem dey carry fame do? Give me money and delete me from every social media platforms. I would give up my influence, everything for money,” she said.
According to Mercy Eke, she would not hesitate to step away from public life entirely if presented with a substantial financial offer. She even suggested that she would be willing to sell off her social media presence and adopt a low-profile lifestyle in exchange for such wealth.
Her comments highlight a growing conversation around the value of fame in today’s digital age, especially among influencers and reality TV stars whose visibility often serves as their primary currency. For Eke, however, financial security clearly outweighs the perks of popularity.
She further noted that with a sum as large as $2 billion, she could comfortably secure a luxurious lifestyle, including owning a private island home and providing long-term comfort for herself and her family. This, she implied, is far more meaningful than maintaining a high public profile.
Despite being one of Nigeria’s most recognisable reality TV personalities, Mercy Eke emphasised that she does not attach too much importance to fame itself.
Her stance underscores a pragmatic approach to success, one that prioritises tangible wealth over social validation.
Her remarks have since sparked conversations online, with many debating whether fame should be seen as a means to financial success or an achievement in its own right.
