Founder and national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Seriake Dickson, says the party is ready to accommodate politicians and Nigerians searching for an alternative political platform.
Dickson, who represents Bayelsa West in the Senate, said the NDC is positioning itself as a credible option for individuals dissatisfied with existing political arrangements.
“Our party is available for all Nigerians who are now helpless and desirous of a change,” he said.
The former Bayelsa governor added that the party is also open to politicians affected by recent political developments across the country.
“The NDC is also available to all politicians who are stranded… who need a platform that is clean and unencumbered with any political crisis,” he said.
The NDC was registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in February, and has since launched a digital membership registration platform as part of efforts to expand its base nationwide.
Dickson described the party as an ideological movement focused on governance, ideas, and service, noting that its emergence has unsettled some political actors.
“The NDC is an ideological party and stands for a new brand of politics,” he said, expressing confidence that the party’s growth would continue.
He also dismissed criticisms from Umar Ardo, describing them as “misguided and sponsored propaganda,” and insisted that the NDC has no link to the legal challenges surrounding the registration of the All Democratic Alliance (ADA).
Dickson said the party revived its registration process after INEC lifted the embargo on new political parties, adding that its momentum reflects growing public support.
His comments come amid ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, including leadership disputes within parties such as the African Democratic Congress.
The NDC leader urged Nigerians, both at home and in the diaspora, to support the movement, insisting that the party represents a new direction in the country’s political landscape.
