The leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Imo State has appealed to its members and supporters to maintain unity and exercise restraint in the wake of recent discussions surrounding the outcome of the Anambra State Governorship Election held last Saturday.
In a statement issued on Monday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Chief Macdonald Amadi, and made available to NEW DAILY PRIME, the ADC emphasised that the party was founded on the principles of unity, integrity, and progress, and remains committed to fostering mutual respect and cooperation among its members and coalition partners.
According to the statement, the party’s attention had been drawn to conversations within its ranks about the performance of Mr Peter Obi, described as a “respected member of our coalition and a distinguished Nigerian statesman,” in the Anambra election.
“Specifically, we are aware that some members have been discussing the outcome of the election in certain wards and local government areas, with particular reference to Mr Obi’s performance,” the statement read. “We understand that these discussions may stem from a place of passion and commitment to our party.”
However, the ADC leadership cautioned that such exchanges, if not carefully managed, could inadvertently destabilise the party and undermine the unity it had worked hard to build.
“In light of the above, we urge all ADC members in Imo State to exercise restraint and refrain from making comments or engaging in discussions that could be perceived as derogatory to Mr Peter Obi or any other member of our coalition,” Chief Amadi stated.

The party further stressed the need to prioritise internal cohesion as it prepares for future electoral challenges, noting that sustained cooperation and shared purpose are key to its political success.
“We must prioritise the unity and integrity of our party, particularly as we approach future elections. Our goal remains to strengthen our structures, enhance grassroots support, and develop policies that address the needs and aspirations of our people,” the statement continued.
Chief Amadi reaffirmed the ADC’s commitment to constructive engagement with its members, coalition partners, and the wider public to ensure that the party continues to serve as a beacon of hope, progress, and stability in Imo State and beyond.
He concluded by urging members to reject divisive rhetoric and stand firm in their collective resolve.
“Together, we can achieve great things and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our people,” he said.
