Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed the Nigerian government’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Japan.

He emphasised the importance of enhancing trade relations and exploring new opportunities in critical areas such as infrastructure development, food security, and healthcare.

Speaking on Thursday, Shettima assured the Japanese government of Nigeria’s dedication to deepening bilateral cooperation and addressing any outstanding issues in their diplomatic relationship.

He gave this assurance during a meeting with a Japanese delegation led by the outgoing Ambassador to Nigeria, Matsunaga Kazuyoshi, and the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Tanaka Akihiko, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

“All the grey areas will be addressed. Luckily, the Governor is here, and two of the major beneficiary ministries are represented at the highest level. Be rest assured that in a couple of days, we are going to resolve all the grey areas and put our relationship on a new pedestal,” the VP told the delegation.

The Vice President commended Ambassador Kazuyoshi for his exceptional role in strengthening the relationship between Nigeria and Japan.

He stressed the significance of this partnership, noting the involvement of key figures in President Bola Tinubu’s administration, including two ministers and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, which highlights the high priority Nigeria places on its collaboration with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
