Following the tanker explosion in Jigawa State, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) mourns the deaths of over 105 people. The deadly incident occurred on Tuesday in Majia town, Jigawa State, as previously reported by the New Daily Prime

The announcement was made on Wednesday via a social media post by Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Forum.

NGF extended heartfelt condolences to the people and state government, particularly to the families and loved ones of the deceased, as well as the survivors.

In a statement, the NGF said, “The NGF finds the reported circumstances of the incident worrisome and urges citizens to avoid taking advantage of petrol spills due to the volatility and existential danger they pose.”

Expressing their deep concern, the NGF added, “This unfortunate incident again calls attention to the need for improved safety protocols in the handling of combustible materials like petrol, particularly during unforeseen circumstances such as accidents.”

“Our hearts are with His Excellency Governor Umar Namadi, the people of Jigawa State, and the families affected by the incident. We ask Almighty Allah to grant them solace during this difficult time and admit the deceased to Al-Jannah Firdaus.”
