The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development (MYSD) has reaffirmed its commitment to strategic collaboration with various sectors to create an enabling environment for young people to maximize their potential.
Commissioner for MYSD, Mobolaji Ogunlende, made this declaration at a three-day retreat organised for the Ministry’s Technical Working Group (TWG) at the Providence Hotel, Ikeja.
Speaking at the event, Ogunlende emphasised the critical role of youth in Lagos, noting that over 70% of the state’s population is under the age of 35.
He acknowledged that while young people represent a significant and dynamic force, systemic barriers often hinder their growth and potential.

“It is our collective responsibility to collaborate across sectors to dismantle these barriers and create an environment where every young person in Lagos can thrive, contribute, and lead meaningful lives,” he stated.
He further stressed that the retreat marked a shift from planning to implementation, aligning with the Lagos State Youth Policy to drive sustainable development.
The Permanent Secretary of MYSD, Pharm. Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, described the establishment of the TWG as a major step in tackling challenges faced by young people.
She explained that the group is tasked with developing a roadmap to ensure youth inclusion in Lagos’ economic and social growth.
“This retreat is a pivotal moment for us to secure the commitment of TWG members, formalize a strategic framework, and define actionable steps for the next three years,” she said.
She highlighted the need for multi-sector collaboration to make youth development initiatives impactful and sustainable.
