Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed confidence that the ongoing political turmoil in the state will ultimately lead to greater unity and resilience among its people.
Fubara made this assertion while receiving a delegation of Muslim leaders from 20 Islamic organisations, including the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, at his private residence in Port Harcourt during an Eid-El-Fitr courtesy visit.
Addressing the gathering, Fubara emphasised the importance of faith and perseverance, urging his supporters to trust in divine guidance.
“This season reminds us of love, sacrifice, and unity. Your visit today demonstrates solidarity, and I deeply appreciate your prayers and support. As believers, we understand that challenges often pave the way for greater victories,” he said.
Acknowledging the distress many feel due to the political crisis, he reassured them that such trials are often beyond human understanding.

“No matter how turbulent the present seems, we must remain firm in our convictions. In the end, we will emerge stronger and more united,” he affirmed.
Fubara reiterated his administration’s dedication to fairness and justice, emphasising the need for a governance system that upholds the rights of all citizens.
“We stand for equity and truth. If doing so comes at a cost, we are prepared to bear it. What matters most is that we remain on the right side of history,” he stated.
The governor also acknowledged the Muslim community’s patience and support, assuring them that their concerns would be addressed once stability is restored.
“I may not have been able to personally celebrate with you during this festive season, but I assure you that our bond will only grow stronger when we overcome these challenges,” he promised.
Urging restraint in the face of provocation, Fubara cautioned against individuals seeking to incite unrest for selfish political gains.
“There are those who thrive on chaos, aiming to destabilize our state and disrupt livelihoods. We will not give them that opportunity. Rivers State will continue to uphold peace, respect the rule of law, and serve as a model for governance in Nigeria,” he concluded.
Speaking on behalf of the visiting delegation, Alhaji Nasir Awhelebe Uhor expressed unwavering support for Governor Fubara, commending his inclusive leadership style.
He noted that unlike the previous administration, which declared Rivers a solely Christian state, Fubara has fostered a more inclusive environment that acknowledges and respects all faiths.

Encouraging the governor to remain steadfast, Uhor reminded him that patience is a core tenet of Islam and that endurance in difficult times often leads to divine rewards.
He also called on President Bola Tinubu to reconsider the emergency measures imposed on Rivers State and fully reinstate Fubara’s authority, emphasising that despite the political crisis, the governor has continued to serve effectively.
During the meeting, prayers were offered for Governor Fubara, his family, and the state, seeking peace and stability for Rivers and Nigeria at large.
