Governor Babajide Sanwo-Oluof Lagos State has disclosed that his administration will focus on securing funds for many projects, including the construction of new international airport and the expansion of the municipal rail system.
Speaking yesterday at the 25th Lagos New Year Thanksgiving Service held at Tafawa Balewa Square, a yearly tradition initiated by President Bola Tinubu during his tenure as governor, Sanwo-Olu outlined his administration’s priorities for the year.
He pledged to implement the newly enacted Electricity Law to ensure reliable power supply across the state.
The governor also reiterated his commitment to delivering on key areas such as housing, infrastructure, healthcare, and security, with a focus on making Lagos safer and more prosperous than ever.

Sanwo-Olu said, “We used the opportunity to reflect on the significant achievements in our state over the past year. Last year, we successfully launched the first phase of the Red Line, began the second phase of the Blue Line, and advanced major projects such as our food and logistics park and a new children’s hospital.
“The recent influx of the diaspora to Lagos highlights our potential as a leading travel and tourism destination. Fellow Lagosians, 2025 is here, and we’ll prosper both individually and as a collective. Let us embrace our resilience and hard work as we continue to build a vibrant, welcoming city where everyone can pursue their dreams.”
