The Lagos State Government has launched an advanced e-call-up system designed to efficiently manage and regulate the movement of trucks within the Lekki Free Trade Zone.
Adebayo Taofiq, Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment at the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), made this announcement in a statement on Sunday.
The statement highlighted that Sola Giwa, Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Transportation, disclosed that the Ministry of Transportation engaged in extensive consultations with key stakeholders, including Primacle, Dangote, Lagos Free Trade Zone, Lekki Ports, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), and the Ibeju-Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA), before the official rollout of the system.
According to Giwa, this collaborative effort has been crucial in aligning all parties for the seamless adoption and operation of the e-call-up system, demonstrating a unified commitment to the success of this transformative project.
Giwa further assured that, under his leadership, the government will rigorously enforce traffic regulations and ensure the efficient implementation of the e-call-up system, enabling the smooth coordination of truck entry and exit for both wet and dry cargo.
This initiative is aimed at improving operational efficiency and significantly reducing congestion within the Free Trade Zone, contributing to the overall ease of business operations.
“My office is firmly dedicated to proactively addressing the challenges arising from the heightened truck activities within the Lekki Free Zone.
“Through the deployment of this system and our concerted efforts with stakeholders, we are committed to creating a structured, efficient environment that will promote growth for both businesses and residents”, Giwa said.
Giwa emphasised that this initiative represents a pivotal advancement in sustainable development for the region, reinforcing the Ibeju-Lekki axis as a premier hub for commercial and real estate investment.
