There are palpable hope and expectations, tension and uncertainty as residents of Edo State head to the polls today.
It is expectedly so, as the three leading political parties have kept the tempo very high with their candidates promising heaven and earth during the period of campaigns that traversed the nooks and crannies of the politically active state.
Candidates Asue Ighodalo (Peoples Democratic Party), Monday Okpebholo (All Progressives Congress), and Olumide Akpata (Labour Party) are all huge and are very well-known to their people. Even Akpata, the ‘Political Jambite’ unlike his political heavyweight opponents, is a heavyweight elsewhere. He is a legal ‘Big man’, having headed the country’s esteemed body of lawyers, the Nigeria Bar Association.
As events unfold, let’s hope things turn out well and the people get their wishes.
