Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved a fresh round of appointments and promotions across key government agencies as part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery in the state.
The approvals were announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

According to the statement, Hon. Abdulkadir Balarabe Kankarofi (Alhajiji) has been appointed Special Adviser on Humanitarian Affairs in the Office of the Executive Governor. He was previously the Senior Special Assistant on Protocol I to the governor.
Hajia Aisha Tamburawa was appointed Special Adviser to the Governor on Positive Propaganda. Until her appointment, she served as a Supervisory Councillor in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area.
In the water sector, Engr. Mukhtar Yusuf was promoted to Managing Director of the Water Resources Engineering and Construction Agency (WRECA), having served as Deputy Managing Director of the agency. Zakari Usman Balan was appointed Deputy Managing Director of WRECA.
The governor also approved the appointment of Dr. Mukhtar Bello Maisudan, a senior lecturer at Bayero University, Kano, as the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Scholarship Board.
Similarly, Engr. Abba Kankarofi was promoted from Deputy Managing Director to Managing Director of the Kano Road and Maintenance Agency (KARMA).
In another promotion, Hon. Musayyib Kawu Ungoggo was appointed Managing Director of the Kano Zoological Garden. Ungoggo has previously served in several political roles, including councillor and Senior Special Reporter (SSR).
Governor Yusuf, while charging the newly appointed and promoted officials, urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them.
“The governor charged the appointees to discharge their duties with dedication, transparency, and commitment in service to the people of Kano State,” the statement read.
Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening institutions and delivering people-focused governance.
“This administration remains focused on strengthening institutions and delivering people-oriented governance in line with the objectives of the Kano First Agenda,” Dawakin Tofa quoted the governor as saying.
