Controversial Nigerian singer Speed Darlington has claimed that his 23 years in the United States yielded nothing but criminal records, arrests, and personal struggles, contrasting the experience with his success in Nigeria.
Speaking in a recent video cited by New Daily Prime, the rapper said he left the US without financial gains, stressing that his achievements, including building a mansion, were made in Nigeria.

“America did not favour me. I’m not ashamed to say it. The only thing I got from the USA is criminal records, arrests upon arrests,” he said.
Darlington explained that while he still maintains access to the US to visit family briefly, he no longer sees it as a place suitable for long-term living, citing mental and emotional challenges.
According to him, racism and societal pressure in America negatively affected his confidence as a Black man, making everyday interactions difficult.
“In America, my self-confidence is in the gutter. I feel lonely, disconnected, and constantly overthinking. As a Black man, you have to overprove yourself before you get respect,” he said.
He added that he feels more comfortable and valued in Nigeria, where he believes he truly belongs.
“My mansion with a swimming pool was built with money made in Nigeria. Even the fight I had with Portable in Lagos helped me complete my house. None of that happened in America,” he stated.
Speed Darlington concluded that freedom and self-worth matter more to him than living in a country where he feels constrained.
“It’s better to be free in a forest than be caged in the centre of everything,” he said.
