Nigerian singer and songwriter Ceeza Milli has claimed that he played a key role in discovering and nurturing the talent of his colleague, Ayra Starr.
Speaking during a recent interview with Yanga FM Lagos, Milli said he first came across Ayra Starr while he was in a relationship with a woman who was her senior at school.
According to him, he recognised her talent at a very young age and supported her early artistic growth.

“When I discovered Ayra Starr, I wasn’t really paying attention to keeping artists, but I like to watch artists grow,” Milli said. “She can’t deny my impact on her career. I discovered her at a very young age. She was still in school then.”
He further claimed that Ayra Starr stayed with him for a period, adding that he provided support during her formative years as an aspiring artist.
“She was my ex-girlfriend’s school daughter, so she was even staying at my place at a point,” he added.
Ayra Starr rose to prominence after the release of her self-titled debut extended play in January 2021 under Mavin Records.
The singer has previously stated that Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy, reached out to her in December 2019 after discovering her music on Instagram.
Neither Ayra Starr nor her management has publicly responded to Ceeza Milli’s claims.
