Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has cleared the air regarding the 2027 general elections, declaring that he has not granted any automatic tickets or endorsements to aspirants eyeing legislative seats.
Addressing a high-powered gathering of All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders at The Dome in Akure yesterday, the governor warned that widespread rumours of secret endorsements are “political falsehoods” designed to fracture party unity.
Aiyedatiwa emphasised that while the political climate is heating up, he remains committed to a level playing field for all party members.

“I have not promised anyone a ticket,” the governor stated firmly.
“I have not said I am giving you a ticket for the State Assembly or National Assembly, nor have I said I will deny anyone a return ticket. Any insinuation to the contrary is a fabrication by mischief makers.”
He clarified that the only position currently “not vacant” is that of the Presidency, reaffirming his earlier executive endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for re-election in 2027.
Instead of unilateral endorsements, the governor announced that the APC in the state would explore consensus arrangements to select candidates.
He stressed that this process would be inclusive, involving all party leaders to ensure that the most viable and disciplined candidates emerge.
A major highlight of the meeting was an update on the ongoing APC electronic membership registration exercise.
The governor revealed that the state is currently leading the pack in the South-West 128,770 registered members, and 3rd in the South-West zone.
Aiyedatiwa urged leaders to intensify mobilisation in their wards, noting that the state is working closely with agencies to resolve National Identification Number (NIN) challenges and improve digital connectivity in rural areas.
While the meeting was politically charged, the governor used the platform to showcase his administration’s “modest achievements” over the past year, including visible changes in the Akure metropolis aimed at making residents proud of the state capital.
He disclosed that several investment projects have reached the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) stage, with groundbreaking ceremonies expected shortly and progress in the agriculture, education, and health sectors.

The meeting saw a massive turnout of the state’s political elite, including Deputy Governor Olayide Adelami, National Vice Chairman (Southwest) Isaac Kekemeke, and State Caretaker Chairman Ade Adetimehin.
Kekemeke praised the governor’s “inclusive style of leadership” and his public declaration of having “no political enemies.”
Adetimehin boasted that Ondo remains the strongest APC stronghold in Nigeria, urging members to remain “blue and united.”
