Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has expressed confidence in the state’s ability to navigate its current political and governance challenges, saying divine support will sustain its leadership, institutions and people.
The governor made the remark on Sunday at the 2026 Holy Ghost Rally organised by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, where he was represented by his deputy, Ngozi Odu.
Rivers State has been grappling with political crisis arising from the prolonged rift between Fubara and his predecessor and Minister of the Federal CapitalTerritory, Nyesom Wike.
On January 8, the Rivers State House of Assembly initiated impeachment proceedings against Fubara and his deputy, following allegations of gross misconduct presented by Major Jack, the assembly’s leader, and endorsed by 26 lawmakers.
The crisis intensified after President Bola Tinubu lifted the six-month emergency rule imposed on the state and after Fubara’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking on Sunday, Fubara said the Rivers State Government draws strength from faith in God, describing the rally’s theme, “The All-Sufficient God,” as both timely and reassuring.
“With the Almighty God on our side, our challenges are surmountable, and our future remains hopeful,” the governor said.
He noted that the theme underscores God’s enduring role as a source of wisdom, strength, provision and grace, especially in times of uncertainty.
According to him, divine sufficiency becomes evident when human capacity is exhausted, reinforcing hope in difficult moments.
Fubara also commended the RCCG for its sustained prayers for Rivers State and Nigeria, applauding the church’s contribution to moral values, unity and spiritual growth.
