Social welfare activist and self-claimed celebrity, Adetoun Onajobi, popularly known as Just Adetoun, has gone into hiding to evade arrest, while a medical doctor accused of issuing a falsified medical report to aid her has been remanded in prison.
The state government also confirmed that the Ogun State Police Command has filed a six-count charge against the activist, who is currently at large, following a formal petition submitted by the state.
These disclosures were made in a statement issued on Monday via the government’s official X account by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade (SAN).
According to the statement, the controversy surrounding Onajobi escalated after Nigerian-born British boxing star Anthony Joshua was involved in a road traffic accident in Ogun State in December 2025. Following the incident, the activist released a series of videos on social media alleging that Ogun State lacked functional emergency ambulance services and accusing Governor Dapo Abiodun of neglecting public welfare.

“She falsely claimed that there was no ambulance service anywhere in Ogun State and accused the Governor of being in Ghana partying and engaging in personal activities instead of attending to the welfare of the boxer,” the statement said.
Ogungbade described the allegations as false, malicious and capable of endangering public safety, stressing that the state operates multiple emergency response services.
“These claims are misleading and pose a serious risk by discouraging residents from seeking available healthcare services,” the statement noted. “Ogun State has several state-owned and state-supported ambulance and emergency response systems.”
Following the circulation of the videos, the state petitioned the police, alleging violations of the Cybercrimes Act, 2015. The police subsequently invited Onajobi on January 2, 2026, directing her to appear for questioning on January 5. According to the Attorney General, she failed to honour the invitation.
“Despite publicly boasting that she had evidence to support her claims, she failed to appear before the police and went into hiding,” Ogungbade said.
The statement added that while evading arrest, the activist released another video claiming she was medically unfit to report to the police. Her lawyer later submitted a medical report purportedly issued by a Lagos-based doctor to support the claim. However, police investigations revealed that the document was fabricated.
“The doctor later admitted that he never met, examined or treated Adetoun Onajobi,” the statement said. “He has been arrested, charged and remanded for issuing fraudulent medical documentation and for obstruction of justice.”
Ogungbade said the activist remains on the run and questioned her credibility, noting that someone who claimed to possess evidence had failed to present it to law enforcement.
The state also alleged prior misconduct by the activist, including the harassment of a woman in Lagos and the unlawful filming and dissemination of images involving a minor.
Meanwhile, PUNCH Online had earlier reported that the Ogun State Police Command confirmed inviting Onajobi following a petition over her online accusations against the governor. The police spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the invitation was issued to enable investigators obtain her statement.
The controversy followed the road accident involving Anthony Joshua along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Makun, Ogun State, where his Lexus SUV reportedly collided with a stationary truck, resulting in the death of two persons. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.
As of the time of filing this report, attempts to obtain further comments from the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) Commandant, Akinbiyi Babatunde, were unsuccessful.
