Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured the families of abducted schoolgirls in Kebbi State that President Bola Tinubu is “deeply troubled” by the incident and is committed to ensuring their safe return.
He was in Birnin Kebbi on the President’s directive to sympathise with the state government and the affected families following the abduction of schoolgirls from a boarding school in Maga, as well as the killing of Brigadier-General Musa Uba and the school’s Vice Principal during the attack.
Describing the abduction as an “assault on the collective conscience of all Nigerians,” Shettima vowed that the Federal Government (FG) would deploy “every instrument of the state” to rescue the schoolchildren and ensure the perpetrators

He said the killers of the general and the vice principal will “face the full weight of justice.”
“Kebbi’s pain is Nigeria’s pain. When girls in the safety of their classroom are seized by criminals, our collective conscience is assaulted,” Shettima stated, adding that the grief transcends political lines.
“Our priority is singular and unflinching: our daughters must return home safely.”
Shettima also pledged the FG’s support for the families of General Uba, the late Vice Principal, and others killed by the terror groups, stating that the General’s “sacrifice will never be forgotten.”
Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, thanked Tinubu for the show of immense leadership and concern, noting that the President has been in close contact with the state since the incidents occurred.
Idris expressed optimism that the kidnapped schoolgirls would soon be rescued, affirming the state’s loyalty to the Tinubu administration and its commitment to continued partnership with the Federal Government to ensure the girls’ release.
Shettima commended the state governor, community leaders, traditional rulers, and all security agencies, including the Armed Forces, Police, and DSS, for their gallantry and cooperation in confronting the security challenges.
The delegation included the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nantawe Yitwada; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu; Minister of Women Affairs, Suleiman Ibrahim; and other top government officials.
The New Daily Prime earlier reported that terrorists on Monday midnight abducted at least 25 schoolgirls from Maga Comprehensive Girls’ Secondary School in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
