The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public advisory concerning Bledine Infant Cereals, produced by the French food giant Danone Group, following a ban by Chadian authorities.
The ban comes after the products were found to exceed permissible limits for Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), a highly toxic and cancer-causing substance.
Authorities warn that the affected Bledine products have reportedly entered Nigeria, particularly in communities near the Chad border, posing a serious health threat to infants and young children.
Aflatoxin B1 is known to impair the immune system and can lead to long-term health complications if consumed.

NAFDAC is urging parents, caregivers, and healthcare providers to exercise caution and immediately report any adverse reactions linked to the product. Reports can be made at any NAFDAC office or via the agency’s online e-reporting platform at nafdac.gov.ng
The agency reiterated its commitment to protecting public health, emphasising the importance of monitoring imported infant foods to prevent exposure to harmful toxins.
This alert serves as a critical reminder for vigilance in the use of food products intended for children.
