Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and former Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Seriake Dickson, has blamed successive Nigerian governments for failing to confront terrorism with the firmness it deserves.
Following the statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, Senator Dickson said the inability of past administrations to prevent, arrest, or prosecute perpetrators effectively has emboldened terrorist groups and fuelled widespread suspicions of state complicity, especially under the Buhari government.
He called on President Bola Tinubu to strengthen ties with foreign partners, including the United States under President Donald Trump, and neighbouring African nations to end the country’s prolonged war against insurgency.

According to the lawmaker, jihadist organisations such as Boko Haram, ISWAP, ISIS, and al-Qaeda have wreaked havoc across the country for nearly 15 years, displacing communities, abducting schoolchildren, and imposing authority in parts of the North.
Dickson warned that Nigeria’s sovereignty remains under threat as terrorists continue to control territories and collect taxes in several states.
He called for urgent international collaboration to “flush out these murderous groups once and for all.”
