The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, has arrested 16 illegal immigrants and 22 other suspects allegedly involved in various criminal activities across the state.
The Commander of the Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this while parading the suspects at the Amotekun headquarters in Akure on Wednesday.
Adeleye said the illegal immigrants, reportedly brought into the state from the Republic of Togo and the Republic of Benin, could not explain their mission in Nigeria.
“We have unusual visitors amongst us. They were brought in for sinister motives; upon interrogation, they could not tell us how they came in from the Benin Republic and Togo without any mission. We will hand them over to the Immigration Service for further scrutiny,” he said.

The commander added that the 22 other suspects were arrested for crimes including rape, murder, vandalism, kidnapping, and theft.
He said one suspect, Aderemi (35), was apprehended over alleged murder and kidnapping, while another, Mr. Etok (45), was suspected to be a spy for kidnappers.
Adeleye reaffirmed the state’s security readiness, noting that Ondo remains safe despite recent criminal incidents.
“Ondo State remains one of the safest in the country. It is not a place for criminals to thrive. Head or tail, Amotekun will catch you,” he warned.
He said all suspects would be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
