The Presidency has declared that President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to Kaduna State has dispelled opposition claims that the North is hostile to him and the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.
Sunday Dare, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, stated that the president’s bold trip to Kaduna, despite being labelled a “no-go area,” reaffirmed the region’s support for the APC.
On Friday, September 19, 2025, Tinubu visited Kaduna for a one-day working visit.
He attended the wedding of Nasirudeen, son of former Zamfara State governor and Senator Abdul’aziz Yari.
He also paid a condolence visit to Aisha, widow of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Dare, in a detailed post on X, described Kaduna as a historic political hub, noting its significance as the birthplace of the influential Kaduna Mafia and the spiritual base of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF).
He also highlighted its role as the political launch pad for Buhari, whose influence across Nigeria remains unmatched.
“Kaduna has been the place to which the North retreats to recalibrate and relaunch,” Dare wrote, underscoring the city’s legacy as a centre for northern political strategy, from the era of Sir Ahmadu Bello to modern democratic alignments.
He emphasised that opposition narratives portraying the North as antagonistic to Tinubu were shattered during the visit.
“Whispers of ‘a no-go area’ hung in the air, but the President, true to his character, came unafraid, carrying the fruits of loyalty to old friendships and evidence of sound policies beginning to touch lives,” Dare added.
The warm reception Tinubu received, from streets to mosques, demonstrated the North’s enduring connection to the APC, according to Dare.

The visit, marked by interactions with political heavyweights across party lines, showcased Tinubu’s commitment to unity and inclusive leadership.
The Presidency’s statement signals confidence that the APC’s policies and Tinubu’s personal outreach will sustain northern support, countering opposition efforts to sow division as the 2027 elections approach.
